Before your drivers hit the road, it's worth making sure their devices are set up for success. The Detrack Driver app relies on a few core device capabilities — GPS, a stable internet connection, and phone access — to deliver live tracking, real-time job updates, and seamless customer communication. Here's everything you need to know to ensure your drivers are running on compatible devices.

Step 1: Check Your Device Specs

Find your device type below and make sure it meets the minimum requirements.

If you are an Android user

What to Check

What You Need

Android version

7.0 or newer

RAM

3 GB or more

Free storage

200 MB or more

Google Play Services

Installed and up to date

If you are an iOS user

What to Check

What You Need

iOS version

16.0 or newer

RAM

2 GB or more

Free storage

200 MB or more

Not sure how to check? On Android, go to Settings → About Phone. On iPhone, go to Settings → General → About.

Step 2: Make Sure These Are Turned On

Great — your device qualifies! Now just make sure these are enabled and your driver will be all set:

  • GPS — Keeps drivers on track with live tracking and route navigation.

  • Internet access — Mobile data or WiFi keeps job updates, photo uploads, and notifications flowing in real time.

  • Phone calls — So drivers can reach customers directly from the app without switching between apps.

Step 3: Set Up for the Best Experience

You're nearly there! These last few extras aren't required, but they make a noticeable difference out in the field:

  • 🗺️ Install a navigation app — Google Maps, Waze, or Sygic. Drivers get turn-by-turn directions without ever leaving the app.

  • 📶 Check your connection — A strong, stable connection keeps everything running smoothly. Mobile data works great; WiFi is fine too.

  • 🔋 Bring backup power — GPS and camera use adds up on long shifts. A car charger or power bank keeps drivers going all day.

What You Don't Need

Good news — Bluetooth, NFC, fingerprint or face unlock, and tablets are all optional. No need to worry about those.

All set? Great — your drivers are ready to hit the road! If you have any questions along the way, our support team is always happy to help
